A Practical Data Protection Checklist for Businesses in Vietnam

Personal data moves through everyday business processes: recruitment, payroll, customer enquiries, supplier relationships and digital services. A practical compliance review therefore needs to connect the legal rules with the way information is actually collected, used, stored and shared.

This guide provides a starting point for businesses reviewing their arrangements under Vietnam’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 91/2025/QH15 and Decree No. 356/2025/ND-CP. It explains the questions to ask about processing roles, consent and statutory exceptions, service providers, overseas processing, impact assessments and data-subject requests. It also includes a working checklist for retention, protective measures and incident procedures.

The guide distinguishes legal requirements from suggested implementation tools. It does not assume that every business uses the same technology or qualifies for the same exemptions. Its focus is ordinary business processing; sector-specific obligations and any applicable foreign law require separate assessment.

Prepared with a research cut-off of 24 October 2026, the publication is intended for management, legal, HR, marketing and IT teams seeking to organise a proportionate, evidence-based review. Download the guide to identify the decisions, records and responsibilities that need to be addressed within your organisation.
